What could make the forums more popular?
#1
What do you guys think we could do as a community to either retain users, or accept more new users?

Hosting some fun, unique forum games could probably lure some people in.

How about we take Acid Forums and push it somewhere else?

Seriously though, there is nothing that I can think of. I think the site needs to find an identity and start from there.

Having an interesting project such as a game, animated series, or webcomic that advertises the forum while being somewhere else.

Some people here draw comics every now and then, the only site I know of that can help with that is tapastic, but I don't know if it'll do the job well.

Bringing in new users could possibly work if they were as weird as us, but it would also probably require a lot more activity from the current members which I can't see happening. Any ideas people come up with to try and increase current activity usually never work because only a part of the community is on board. This forum is a mix of different things and trying to find people that would enjoy that mix is really hard to do not to mention one of the main things that keep us going is we know each other. Ultimately I think Acid is almost at its end and there's nothing we can do except stay in contact with the members we want to stay in contact with

Bringing new users can work without current users leaving, that is, if those new members are here to stay.

So yeah there should be something interesting happening I guess, maybe some kind of official event, after all we aren't related to anything at all, so it could be something like "Record yourself eating as much bananas as possible" and the one who gets the highest score gets a badge, a colored username... I dunno.

There are also have been some events that reward more worthy prizes such as Amiibos but the problem there is the shipping and such. I think there was a Super Smash Bros tournament here before.

I can totally agree with you with AF in it's final days, but if something is done, it could be changed, the thing is, will that be done?

like
having a reason to be here instead of just being here as a resort for JV

JV had games to discuss and play together, But Acid has nothin' except for the chat, mang... Acid needs an event or a creation

I like having a small community, it's easy to remember who everyone is.

I would rather have good friendships with 1-50 people than weak friendships with hundreds of people.
It's like asking for a slight hint of apocalypse.

Yes, have you not noticed the dip in activity? Hosting a major forum game is almost impossible in this environment (which is the exact reason why I'm asking about this).

on a serious note, there are also websites wherein you can pay them to have people check out, sign up, and post on your forums. think of it as paid advertising except the posters are held on gunpoint to make quality posts on your forum. it doesn't guarantee that they'll stay if they aren't interested in the community, but more people stumbling across acid will certainly extend its lifespan

My government killed a man for no reason. They had no proof he was involved in 9/11 no one even charged him with it. He was never indicted, arrested or tried for the 1998 bombings but was gunned down like a dog in the street. One day we will find out the truth about 9/11.

The only ideas I have are that we could merge it with Bls' forum or unban all the people who were banned before both of which wouldn't increase the popularity by that much. I think this forum's time is about here which is unfortunate since I certainly enjoyed it.
