Why Kizuna AI isn't the first VY
#1
"Loqueando" is a software that can create text-to-speech voices, including spanish. During 2008 (or maybe earlier) people used this along with pictures of characters to create this kind of feeling.

They're more common in rants, but if you can look hard enough, you can find gameplays or stories where said character interferes for a moment for something, for example, a detail that bothers the youtuber.

But that doesn't make them an AI.
The term virtual youtuber is more used to describe an AI, otherwise people like GradeAUnderA or Calbel could be considered as VY because they either use images rather than real footage, or a different sample voice. If you're gonna say, "but Grade uses his real voice!" well there's a real voice behind Kizuna Ai too, and she's not scripted -- she's programmed.
