Is England a country?
#1
A lot of people would call England a country. However, it is also a part of the United Kingdom, which is also considered a country. The United Kingdom is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and all of these are called countries as well.

So, what do you call a country? Is the UK a country, or is England a country? Maybe it's a country within a country?

Discuss this pressing dilemma.

It's a subdivision that happens to be called ''country''

This. As far as what we know as "country" is concerned, the country is the UK.

England, Scotland, Ireland, and wales are their own countries. But they all pay the bills under the name of the United Kingdom.

Ireland isn't part of the UK and Northern Ireland is a province not a country.

My government killed a man for no reason. They had no proof he was involved in 9/11 no one even charged him with it. He was never indicted, arrested or tried for the 1998 bombings but was gunned down like a dog in the street. One day we will find out the truth about 9/11.

I think England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are nations rather than countries. Or should I say... aren't Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are countrysides rather than countries?

I'd say both England and the UK are countries, but that's probably because I live in England Tongue
