I don't think DST is good or effective in any region...

It's actually less effective at what it tries to achieve up here since it's light nearly 24 hours per day 3 months per year and then when it starts to get dark again we turn the clock forward so it gets dark at 2 pm

So, how do we make those who don't realise realising?

Good news everyone! THE DST WON'T BE INTRODUCED BY 2020!

But I think I have heard that they would like to introduce by 2022. So the war hasn't finished yet.

That article brings up an interesting point — anyone dealing with time and date systems already has to deal with the additional burden of programming an additional era, something that nobody foresaw (apparently people expected emperor Akihito to outlive all current software, despite he's turning 85 in two months). It's the new Y2K for Japanese systems.

At least they have a known deadline for the era change now, since we all know the new one will start on 2019-05-01, assuming nothing changes. If the era change had been caused by the reigning emperor dying, all of these changes would have ha a deadline of "yesterday".
