Repurchasing My Childhood
#1
So I lost all of my Gameboys and games a long time ago as a child, and I really missed them, so I've started to buy them from eBay.

I ordered Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Firered and Leafgreen from this page: https://www.ebay.com/itm/323247670852
They all look pretty authentic.

I also bought a console, which is an original black Gameboy Advance with an added backlit mod: https://www.ebay.com/itm/192492053341
Now I can even play in the dark! Yay!

These will be delivered in about a two weeks time.

For the price you paid for the games, you could have bought a very good flash cart and played all the games you wanted.

My government killed a man for no reason. They had no proof he was involved in 9/11 no one even charged him with it. He was never indicted, arrested or tried for the 1998 bombings but was gunned down like a dog in the street. One day we will find out the truth about 9/11.

With a flashcart and an original ROM, you can. Why wouldn't you? It behaves identically* to the original games.

*Other than when the flash is unlocked. But this is almost impossible to do accidentally, and Game Freak won't even try to do this because they might end up erasing original games accidentally if they do.

@Ax6: I played Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon Platinum in a flash cart years ago, after a while they give you a black screen because of an anti-piracy method.

That just points to a flashcart that doesn't correctly emulate the real carts.

Quote:Pokémon Black and White, along with a small handful of other DS games, use special cartridges with an IR sensor onboard. When booting the game using the typical save type detections and support, which apply to 99% of DS games, players are greeted by a nasty blue screen telling them that the save data cannot be accessed. The error cannot be dismissed and the game cannot be played. As it turns out, the IR port is accessed by using a slightly modified version of the protocol that the other 99% of DS games use to load and store save data. If this variant is not properly detected and supported, the game will present this error instead.

(from https://mgba.io/2017/07/31/holy-grail-bugs-2/)

EDIT: another quote from that same page:

Quote:Recently StapleButter uncovered another issue that would easily catch most flash carts. When starting a game it would poll the cartridge to see if the IR sensor was present. Since flash carts do not have IR sensors the reply it received was incorrect.
